Katie Schide : Athlète de l’année 2024 aux Trail Running Awards

Katie Schide has been named the 2024 Trail Running Awards Athlete of the Year . This recognition caps off a season marked by strong performances and goal achievements in the world's biggest ultra-trail races.

A sign that he is the athlete to watch in the coming weeks?

His record over the past two years reflects constant progress and remarkable results:

  • Diagonale des Fous 2023 : a victory in this race renowned for its difficulty.
  • Western States 100 in 2024 : She finished in 15:46, setting the second-fastest women's time in history, just 17 minutes behind Courtney Dauwalter's record.
  • UTMB 2024 : a second victory in the race with a time of 22h09, the best female performance ever achieved in this event.

These results confirm her status as one of the best in her discipline. While her performances are often compared to those of Courtney Dauwalter, Katie says she's focused on her own race choices and goals, such as Hardrock 2025, which she already has on her calendar.

" I don't worry about where other people (read Courtney Dauwalter) are going to run, I just do the races I want to do ."

But beyond the numbers, Katie inspires with her passionate approach to sport. She likes to say, "Drawing lines on maps and seeing where my body can take me."

Katie Schide also stands out for her personal approach to trail running. A geologist by training, she sees the mountains as a place of discovery that's both physical and scientific. She often describes trail running as a way to trace new paths, whether on a map or on the trails.

With her partner Germain Grangier, also a trail runner, she has taken on less conventional challenges, such as crossing from Cervinia to Chamonix in four and a half days: 188 km and 13,500 m of elevation gain. This type of adventure reflects her philosophy of the discipline, where performance rubs shoulders with the pleasure of exploration.

With her unique vision of the sport and authentic approach, Katie Schide is inspiring a new generation of trail runners. Her upcoming adventures are sure to push the boundaries even further. Where will this passion take her next?
